Sunekos in London

Amino acids with hyaluronic acid to rebuild skin quality, at our Marylebone clinic

Book Appointment

What is Sunekos?

Sunekos is an injectable skin treatment that combines non cross linked hyaluronic acid with six amino acids to rebuild the skin's own support structure, rather than to fill a line or add volume. At Halcyon Medispa in Marylebone, London, it is £400 per area per session and it is carried out by Dr Osman Bashir Tahir only.

The formula is called HY6AA. It pairs hyaluronic acid with glycine, L-proline, L-lysine, L-leucine, L-valine and L-alanine, the building blocks the skin uses to make collagen and elastin. Sunekos is made in Italy by Sunekos Laboratories, the aesthetics division of Professional Dietetics S.p.A, and is distributed in the UK and Ireland by AestheticSource.

It sits with the other skin boosters on our price list, alongside Profhilo and the polynucleotides, rather than among the fillers. If what you want is more projection or a changed shape, a filler is the right conversation to have instead.

How the treatment works, and the course

Two products are used, and they do different jobs. Sunekos 1200 carries high molecular weight hyaluronic acid at 1200 kD and goes in first, giving the tissue immediate structural support. Sunekos Performa follows, and it is the one that drives the rebuilding: the manufacturer's laboratory work shows it promoting elastin and the anchoring collagens, types IV and VII, rather than only the common types I and III that most injectables target.

The protocol reflects that. Your first session combines Sunekos 1200 and Performa in the same visit. Every session after that is Performa alone. The standard course is one session every two weeks, three times, with a fourth added where the practitioner judges it worthwhile. Treatment is placed into the medium to deep dermis with a fine needle, or with a cannula and needle together across the full face.

The face is the usual area, either the mid and lower third or the whole face. The area around the eyes, the neck, the decolletage and the hands can also be treated, and the manufacturer is explicit that those areas require specific training. What is treated and how many sessions you need is decided at your consultation, not booked in advance.

Results, evidence and aftercare

Sunekos is not a volumiser, so there is nothing dramatic to look at on the day. What people notice is skin quality: better hydration, firmer texture, a tighter feel across the cheek and jaw, and fine lines reading more softly. Because the work is regenerative, the fair point at which to judge the result is a few weeks after the final session rather than after the first.

Be careful with the numbers you will find online. The published evidence from the manufacturer is early: a pilot study in facial skin ageing and laboratory work on cultured fibroblasts, both with small numbers of subjects. The laboratory work reported an average 23 per cent reduction in oxidative damage in cells pre treated with the Performa solution against untreated cells. That is a cell culture finding, not a promise about your face, and we would rather say so than quote a percentage at you.

Expect temporary redness, small raised points where the product was placed, and the possibility of bruising. These usually settle within a few days. Your aftercare is given to you on the day by the practitioner who treated you, so follow that rather than a general rule found elsewhere. What each visit involves is set out in our patient journey.
