Neck Lines Treatment in London

Neck lines are the horizontal creases that form across the front of the neck, and at Halcyon Medispa in Marylebone they are treated according to what is causing them: skin quality, muscle pull, or both. The skin on the neck is thinner and more delicate than the skin on the face, it has fewer oil glands, and it moves constantly, so it ages earlier and responds differently. That is why a treatment that works well on the face is not automatically the right choice here. What Causes Neck Lines

Neck lines rarely have a single cause, and the mix matters because it decides the treatment.

Collagen and elastin loss. With age the skin produces less collagen and elastin, so it loses firmness and the creases set rather than smoothing out. Neck skin is thinner to begin with, so this shows earlier here than on the face.
Sun exposure. Ultraviolet light breaks down collagen and elastin fibres. The front of the neck is often missed when sunscreen is applied, which is why it can look older than the face of the same person.
Posture and repeated movement. Long periods looking down at a phone or a laptop crease the same lines over and over, the pattern often called tech neck. Younger patients frequently present with this rather than with laxity.
Platysma muscle activity. The platysma is the broad sheet of muscle across the front of the neck. When it is strong or overactive it pulls downward, which deepens horizontal creases and makes vertical bands more visible.
Weight change and skin laxity. Loss of underlying support, or a loss of weight, can leave the neck skin looser, in which case firming the skin is only part of the answer.
Smoking and dehydration. Both reduce skin quality and accelerate the visible ageing of the area.

Deep horizontal rings present since childhood, sometimes called necklace lines, are a feature of how the skin is attached rather than a sign of ageing, and they respond differently from lines that have appeared over time. This is one of the things a face to face assessment establishes before anything is recommended.

In practice these are combined more often than they are chosen against one another, for example relaxing the muscle and improving the skin in the same plan. Prevention is worth as much as treatment on this area. Apply sunscreen to the front of the neck every day as a matter of routine, not only in summer. Moisturise the neck as you would the face. Raise your screen so you are not looking down for hours. Stopping smoking and keeping alcohol moderate both help preserve skin elasticity.

Can neck lines be removed completely?
Rarely, and no reputable clinic should promise it. Established creases can be softened and the quality of the skin improved, and the realistic aim is a smoother, better hydrated neck rather than a line-free one. How much change is achievable for your neck is discussed at consultation.

Where the lines come from repeated creasing in younger skin rather than from laxity, a skin booster such as Profhilo or polynucleotides is usually the starting point, alongside changing the posture that is creating them. Are anti-wrinkle injections safe in the neck?

How soon will I see a difference?
